This project is a reconfiguration of a two-bedroom apartment in a historic brownstone in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. The clients, a young couple, had recently moved in and needed a second bathroom and a dedicated space to work from home. Within the existing footprint, the project became an exercise in creating more functional rooms without sacrificing the apartment’s original charm.
The oversized main bedroom, anchored by a decorative fireplace, was carefully divided to restore the proportions of the original parlor room—transforming it into a bright, serene office. At the opposite end of the apartment, the laundry closet was expanded to accommodate a compact powder room. With limited square footage, every inch mattered: the washer and dryer were tucked into a custom cabinet, and the sink and toilet were precisely arranged to fit the narrow space.
Mineral-based paints were used throughout as a healthier alternative—free of VOCs and toxic additives that can compromise indoor air quality.
