This project is the renovation of a nursery in a 100-year-old home in Oradell, New Jersey. The parents wanted to create a calm, healthy space for their newborn—prioritizing materials that would be safe and long-lasting. The room had not been updated in years, making it a blank slate for a fresh start.

The walls were painted with mineral-based colors from Alkemis, a VOC-free option that avoids harmful additives and supports better indoor air quality. A wool carpet was selected for its natural properties, free of synthetic fibers, offering a comfortable surface for both the baby and parents to spend time on. A delicate wallpaper from Nestig adds warmth and playfulness to the space.

A key element in the design was the crib. Rather than investing in something temporary, the family selected a convertible crib that transitions from a mini crib to a standard crib and later to a toddler bed—minimizing waste and allowing the same piece to grow with the child over time.
